Studios

ELITE has two sound-proof recording studios and one multi-purpose open area (with two editing workstations). Teachers can use the two studios to produce computer-based presentations or high-quality filming according to the requirements of their projects. The studios, equipped with high quality microphones, are acoustically treated to provide a quiet, echo-free space for audio recording. The setup is thus very suitable for creating videos for online courses and tutorials and multimedia content for on-campus teaching. Two workstations are available in the multi-purpose open area for post-editing of video contents. This is also the place where consultation/training on software is conducted for teachers.

The studios and the editing workstations are open for all teachers to use (booking priority will be given to teachers involved with eLearning ADP, MMCD and MOOC production). Our Media Production Specialists will provide support service and training to teachers upon request.

Professional Studio

Chroma-key Studio is available for various video production setups such as self-capture recording and scenario filming. This studio is equipped with a 4mx2m chroma key background, lighting control and a Sony X-70 HD Camcorder.

The setup makes the studio feasible for different shooting scenarios such as compositing (layering) two images or video streams together based on color hues (chroma range) to produce various effects. The studio can accommodate a team of 3-4 people (maximum) to film on screen at the same time.

Self-Recording Studio

The Self-recoding Studio provides a sound-proof recording environment. It is equipped with a 13" Wacom Cintiq pressure-sensitive tablet monitor for inking and doing hands-on demonstration, and a SurfacePro 3 for recording both audio and screen activities. A high quality webcam is also set up for high-definition (1920 x 1080 pixels) video recording. The studio can support recording of 1-2 speakers (voice-over and on-screen activities).

Multi-Purpose
Open Area

The multi-purpose open area offers a space for teachers to do preparation using AR/VR/MR, attend training/consultation, and post-production. Two iMac workstations are available for teachers to prepare their materials prior to recording/filming in the studios. Teachers can check and perform post-production editing on their materials/videos. It does not require a reservation and is available on a first come, first served basis. If you need face-to-face training or consultation services provided by Media Production Specialists from ELITE, prior booking is needed.

The multi-purpose room with a maximum capability of 30 people is also available for (re)viewing course materials, hosting workshops/seminars, and demonstrating and promoting new eLearning technologies/tools/ideas to teachers.
